What to put on an one page CV
A one page CV forces you to keep only what matters, and recruiters often prefer it. This one page CV template uses a big clear name, numbered sections and two compact columns, so your profile, experience, education and skills fit on one side of A4 without looking crowded. It has no photo and suits school leavers, graduates and anyone with a few years of experience.
Write your CV here and preview the page for free, with no account needed. The preview shows exactly where the page ends, so you can see when to trim. Pay £4.99 once to download it as PDF and Word, with a matching cover letter included. It comes in three colours, and you can switch template at any time without losing a word.
Keep your profile to three lines
Say who you are, what you are best at and what you want next. Every extra line on a one page CV is taken from your experience.
Give recent jobs the space
Your last two or three roles get two or three lines each. Older jobs can be a single line with the title, employer and dates.
Write bullets that show results
Start each line with what you did and end with what changed, such as cut waiting times by a third. Results say more in fewer words.
Combine short sections
Put training, languages and interests together in the side column, and give your qualifications one line each.
Use the preview to trim
If the text runs to a second page, shorten the oldest jobs first. Make the font smaller only as a last resort.
Questions
Should my CV be one page?
It suits school leavers, graduates and people with up to five or so years of experience. With a longer career, two pages is normal in the UK and nobody will mark you down for it.
How do I fit my CV on one page?
Keep the profile short, give older jobs one line, cut hobbies that do not relate to the job and combine small sections. Use a two-column layout so skills and education sit beside your experience.
What should I leave off a one page CV?
Your full address, date of birth, a photo, references and duties that every reader can guess from your job title. Keep the space for results and skills.
Is the one page CV template free?
Filling it in and previewing are free, with no account. Downloading it as PDF and Word costs £4.99 once, with a matching cover letter included.
