Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 1,378 people in market research before launch. Taken by people aged 18 to 40, from first jobs to career changes.
Sound familiar?
- You are good at your job, but it is not you. You can do the work. You just cannot see yourself still doing it in five years, and you do not know what else fits.
- AI is changing your work and you do not know where to move. Developers, designers and writers raised this most in testing. The report shows careers next door that use what you already know.
- Too many options, or none that feel right. Broad interests and no clear direction. You get a ranked shortlist with reasons, not another list of possibilities.
What you walk away with
- A shortlist of up to ten careers ranked on your own answers, not a personality label
- The reasons, the trade-offs and the UK routes for each, so you can check them rather than take them on trust
- A 30-day plan of small experiments to run before you spend time or money retraining
Who it is for
- You do not know what direction suits you
- You have a few broad areas and want them tested
- You want a shortlist you can actually investigate
It does not measure: ability or intelligence, personality traits, how good you would be at a job, a guarantee of employment or earnings.
What the report contains
- Executive career snapshot
- A one-page summary of your profile in plain words, with the four or five things that matter most.
- Six-domain interest profile
- How strongly you lean towards hands-on, investigative, creative, social, enterprising and organising work, with under-described areas flagged rather than guessed.
- Top work priorities and trade-offs
- What you said matters most at work (pay, security, impact, flexibility and so on) and where two of your priorities pull against each other.
- Three strongest career families
- The broad areas of work that fit you best, so you can look beyond the exact titles listed.
- Up to ten distinct, evidence-linked career suggestions
- Each career with its fit shown as separate parts: interest fit, priority fit and how much evidence the ranking rests on.
- Detailed strongest-three comparison
- Your top three side by side: day-to-day tasks, entry routes, pay context and what could frustrate you.
- Surprise and adjacent possibilities
- Careers next door to your top ones that you might not have considered.
- Psychological fit shown separately from practical readiness
- Whether you would like the work is kept apart from whether you could realistically get into it from where you are.
- UK entry routes and qualifications to verify
- Routes for your nation, drawn from the National Careers Service where a profile exists, with the checked date shown.
- Salary context where a sourced figure exists
- Pay ranges only where an official source exists; where none does, the report says so instead of inventing one.
- What could frustrate you, per leading option
- The parts of each leading career most likely to grate, given what you told us.
- Questions to ask someone doing the job
- Three questions per career for a fifteen-minute conversation with someone who does it.
- A 30-day exploration plan
- Five small tasks, each with a goal, effort estimate and a clear done-when, to test your top options.
- Sources, limitations and report version
- Where every fact came from, what the report cannot tell you, and the version it was produced with.

More about Career Compass
Career Compass finds the careers and career families most worth exploring for you, and explains every suggestion rather than just ranking them.
You get your interest profile and work priorities, career families that fit, ten explained career suggestions, a comparison of your strongest three, the trade-offs each one carries, realistic UK routes in, and a 30-day plan.
It is built for people who do not yet know what they want - school leavers, graduates with no fixed direction, and career changers who know the current path is wrong but not what replaces it.
£19.99 once. Full report included, no subscription, free retake if the report gets you wrong.

Before you buy
What if the report is not useful to me?
If your report does not match the answers you gave, email support@tonyknows.co.uk. We read your answers against your report ourselves, and if it got you wrong you get a free retake. We compare the answers you actually gave against the report that came out. If they genuinely disagree, or the report came back too thin to be any use, you get a retake at no cost. If the report does match your answers and you simply read it differently, we will explain how it reached that result rather than retake it. Your legal rights are unaffected either way.
Why is it paid before I start?
So there is no surprise paywall after fifteen minutes of questions. You see the price, what the report contains and a full sample report before you pay; then the complete report is included.
Can I download the report?
Yes. Your report is a full web page you can reopen any time, and every report has a Download PDF button that produces a designed PDF of the same content.
Can I save and return?
Yes. Every answer is saved as you go, and you can continue on another device by signing in.
Will it tell me one perfect career?
No. Reports show components of fit, evidence coverage, trade-offs and practical readiness, so you can investigate options rather than trust a single verdict.
Does it work for all UK nations?
Routes and training names differ across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. We ask which nation you are planning for and label route facts accordingly; some facts are indicative and need verifying with the provider.
Is this a psychometric test?
It is a structured assessment designed using established career-psychology frameworks. It is not a clinical test, an IQ test, a hiring screen or a diagnosis.
Is it suitable for under-18s?
Not yet. The paid assessments are for adults (18+). A supervised flow for under-18s is being reviewed and is not open, even when a parent buys. Under-18s can use the free career guides.
Is TonyKnows scientifically validated?
Not yet. The items are original and in pilot. We publish the theory, versions and limitations on the methodology page and will not call the assessment validated until evidence specific to it exists.
Do affiliate course links affect my results?
No. Some course links on TonyKnows are affiliate links, but commission never influences scores or rankings, and no course purchase is required for full results.
What happens if report generation fails?
Your answers are saved and you can retry at no extra cost. Scoring is done by software; if the written explanation cannot be generated, a factual version is shown and flagged for review.
