Accepting a job offer: your letter, written for you
Accept in writing and confirm what you have been offered: the job, the salary, the hours and your start date. The builder also works out the latest date to hand in your notice where you are now. Free to copy into an email, download or print.
What to put in an acceptance letter
Thank them and say clearly that you accept.
The job title, salary and hours, as offered, so you both have them in writing.
Your start date.
Any conditions still to be met, such as references or right-to-work checks.
Before you resign from your current job
Wait until you have the offer in writing, and any conditions you can't control, such as references, are clear. Then hand in your notice: the builder works out the latest date to do it so you can start on time.

Questions people ask
Should I accept a job offer by email or letter?
Either is fine. Email is quickest; what matters is that your acceptance and the terms are in writing.
When should I hand in my notice?
Once you have a written offer and the conditions you can't control are clear. The builder works out the latest date to give notice so you can start on the agreed day.
Can I negotiate after accepting?
It is much harder. If you want to ask for a higher salary or a different start date, do it before you accept.
What if the offer is conditional?
Say you accept subject to the conditions, and don't resign from your current job until they are met.
